Rules for Entry:
• In order to win, contestants must enroll in the National Christian Writers Conference and be in attendance on March 26, 2011. San Diego Convention Center.
• Contestants must not have published a full-length book for a royalty-paying publisher in the last four years.
• Entries can include novels (middle grades, young adult, or adult), non-fiction works, memoirs, poetry, or short stories.
• Contestants must be at least 18 years of age at time of the award.
• One submission per conference attendee.
• Authors of previously unpublished full-length books, fiction and nonfiction, are eligible to enter.
• Manuscripts must be complete at time of entry.
• There is no entry fee, but contestants must enroll and be present to win on March 26th at the National Christian Writers Conference.
• Picture books or children’s books will not be considered. However, young adult novels are acceptable.
• Full-length manuscripts must be completed and should consist of novels of any genre, nonfiction subjects, memoirs, a collection of poems of at least 100 pages total, or a collection of short stories, either previously published or unpublished.
• Staff and faculty of the National Christian Writers Conference are not eligible to participate in the contest.
• Entries will not be returned. Receipt of entries will be notified via email.
Submission Guidelines:
• Include a cover letter referencing the title of the work and your contact information, (full name, e-mail address, phone number, and mailing address. Your name should only appear on the cover letter. Only the title of the work should appear on the manuscript--not your name. Entries without proper contact information on the cover letter will not be considered.
• Submit 30-40 pages of the completed manuscript, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, and 1-inch margins on all sides. Include an overview of the intended audience.
• For fiction or memoir entries, include a 1-to-2 page synopsis, single spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font. For non-fiction, short story and poetry entries include a table of contents or content outline.
• Include a one page marketing plan explaining how you will market your new book.
• Deadline for application is March 15, 2011. Envelopes postmarked later than March 15th, will not be considered.
• Entries will be read and scored by judges. The judges' decisions are final. Judges reserve the right to re-categorize entries as necessary.
